Autumn 2025 EGM
Hey there! I have no idea how it's week 1 already, but I hope you're off to a great start with the semester. It was a busy Welcome Week for RailSoc, so thank you to everyone who joined us at one or more of our events. Bonus points if you came to all of them!
In case you were looking for more ways to get involved with the society, we're holding an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) on Tuesday, 30 September 2025. We'll be meeting at 18:30 in Lomond room, Pleasance, and you are more than welcome to join us. Please! (No pressure.)
We're looking for a Treasurer. Not because we actually have any money. EUSA just needs us to have one and they'll get sad (and angry. Sangry?) if we don't. Facing the wrath of the Students' Association is not on my to-do list for semester 1, so if you're good with numbers, do consider running. If you're not good with numbers, also consider running, because we have no money.
We will also be passing various constitutional amendments, including some to create new roles on the committee — specifically, a Vice President and Railway Advocacy Officer. If those motions pass, we'll also elect people to these roles.
If you would like to run for committee or propose a constitutional amendment, you can fill out this form. I've also included a button below in case you prefer that.
You can find a provisional agenda here.
For those of you who were around for the 2025 AGM, you might be wondering: 'I thought these roles already existed'. I did too. But it turns out that these amendments 'passed' with over 50%, but crucially under two thirds of the votes, and our constitution requires a two-thirds majority for amendments. It's so okay though, because we're fixing it right now! Well, not quite. At the EGM, I mean.
Anyway, that's all from me. Go back to studying or procrastinating or whatever it was that you were doing. Best of luck with the rest of the semester and I hope to see you at the EGM!

Secretary (2025–26)
