RailSoc is going to Newcastle!
Happy Tuesday everyone, and welcome to our February newsletter! We have two year highlights coming up, our traditional Railsoc Quiz, and our super exciting, half-price BIGish TRIP, to the bountifully bridgeful Toon of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne!
But first, a Model Rail Notice: This week and next week's Model Railway Sessions will be on Wednesday the 25th of February and Wednesday the 4th of March. They will be at the usual time of 19:00 and usual place at Pleasance - this week we'll meet in the cafe. If you cannot find us don't hesitate to message! Sessions will return to Thursdays starting from the 12th.

Railsoc's Quiz Social
Roll up, roll up! Railsoc's quintessential pub quiz is back! Get ready for a night of railway themed questions and conundrums, courtesy of our resident quizmaster and former president Sam.
It was really good fun last year with rounds ranging from model railway trivia, to Gaelic station names, to naming the most London Underground stations possible. Who knows what this year will hold? (Well, Sam does, but that's besides the point.)
We'll be in Cheviot room, Pleasance on Monday 2nd March. The quiz will start at 20:15, but you can show up from 20:00. The Pleasance Bar and Cafe should be open, so drinks are available for a true pub quiz vibe!
And finally for the most important part of this Newsletter...
We've been teasing it for a long time now, but finally, exclusively for members first, we are finally releasing the tickets to our Big Trip Destination!
Newcastle Upon Tyne
This terrific Tyneside town is positively overflowing with stuff to do, and exclusively through our EUSA products page you can get a return ticket for only £8.40! Transport afficionados can explore the Tyne & Wear Metro and many train watching spots whilst the historically inclined can explore the eponymous castle and beautiful Georgian streets. And with so much more to see this trip I'm sure will be one of our best!
There are a limited number of discounted tickets (18 total) and we anticipate it'll be one of our most popular of the year!
– – – > We'll be headed to Newcastle on Saturday the 14th of March, and will meet at 8:30 in Waverley station. Before travelling, we will give you the physical tickets if you have bought them from us. We will then take the 09:08 TransPennine Express service down to Newcastle.
The return journey will be on the 18:15 service (also TPE) in the evening, which gives us the whole day to explore England's northernmost city!
If you buy a ticket from us but then discover you cannot make it, please let us know a.s.a.p. so that we may refund you and offer the ticket to someone else.
Advance tickets at the same times will still be available to be bought on ticket apps, currently £16.10 with a railcard or £24.20 without one, but they will likely increase in price nearer to the date. Please note that unless you buy an anytime, we are using advance tickets, so you cannot take a train at a different time without buying a new ticket.
Please don't hesitate to contact us at [email protected] or message our Instagram @railsocedi if you have any questions!
We'll be announcing the trip more widely on our socials next week to remind you and others (not forgetting our usual graphics from Jamie!), but we wanted to let you know first as a member of the society and reader of the newsletter!
Phew, that was a lot of info. We hope you're as excited as we are for this trip!

And that just about brings us to the end of a bumper newsletter edition. Enjoy the rest of February, and we hope to see you soon at our next couple of events!
Thank you very much for reading,
Seb & Liam (Sec & Pres)
And finally our train of the month, being helpfully assessed by those who came with us to Balloch.
