RailSoc January Newsletter

Good morning train people!

Our first trip of the new year is officially announced! Only a small one for January, but no less of a good time 🚃⛵🦆. In other news we have new days for our model railway project and a way to get anywhere in Scotland for only £20...

But firstly, our January destination in question is the one and only North Berwick! We will be travelling on Saturday the 24th January, and meeting on the Edinburgh Waverley concourse at 10:15 a.m. Return tickets are expected to cost £6.05 with a railcard and £9.10 without one.

Thank you Jamie!

A classic Railsoc trip, the lovely seaside town of North Berwick will certainly cure the January blues. Well known for bird spotting, it features the Scottish Seabird Centre as well as a nearby library and museum detailing the history of the town. Walk along the beach, or if you have the stamina, climb the North Berwick Law to get a view of the entire bay!

Model rail news now! Our new dates for the model railway sessions will be fortnightly starting from Tuesday the 20th January (3 Feb, 17 Feb, 3 March, 17 March, 31 March), at 19:00 at Pleasance - we'll meet initially in the activities lounge in pleasance west.

Everyone is free to come even if you've never been before! Below is some of the progress we made last semester, the landscape is coming together somewhat (I promise I'll get some modroc!).

Look at that paper, mache 🤘

£20 open return tickets to any destination in Scotland!

For those who haven't seen the news, the newspaper Daily Record has (sort of) teamed up with Scotrail to offer £20 open return tickets to literally any train station in Scotland. You can read the Daily Record's info here, or book directly through this link, or enter the promo code P8UCPL.

The offer expires on the 31st of Jan, but you can travel on any date up to the 31st of March! You'll see me in Thurso... (maybe)

Today's train of the month is the Tyne and Wear Metro, crossing the Tyne at Newcastle !🚇Ⓜ️ Could this be a secret railsoc clue?

I took this photo, are you proud of me?

Annd that will be all for today! Thank you very much for reading, we hope to see you all next week in North Berwick !🛤️🚃

Yours,

Liam (Prezzie)
