Thank you for joining RailSoc and PrideSoc on our trip to Glasgow! We'll be following the Stride with Pride heritage trail put together by Glasgow Women's Library. It's a three-mile walk through LGBTQ+ history and heritage in Scotland's largest city.
The full trail guide with all the information can be downloaded using the button below. This web page supplements the guide with more information about how to reach each destination on the trail, including Google Maps directions.
Full map
The full map is below, and the route is also broken down into smaller chunks further down the page. You can open the route in the Google Maps app by clicking the blue, underlined 'More options' link in the top left.
Stop 1
We'll arrive at Glasgow Queen Street station, then we'll head to Nelson's Monument in Glasgow Green for the first stop on the walk.
Stop 2
Next stop, Trongate and Albion Street for the former locations of the Commonwealth Games 2014 and European Championships 2018 Pride Houses.
Stops 3 and 4
Nearby, the Tron Theatre previously hosted the Glasgay! festival. Another minute down the street is where the Glasgow Women's Library could be found between 1994 and 2006.
Stops 5, 6 and 7
Next, we'll walk up Candleriggs before turning left onto Ingram Street. Then, a quick detour onto Miller Street for the Glasgow Lesbian Line.
Stop 8
Royal Exchange Square is home to the Gallery of Modern Art.
Stop 9
Stop 9 is off the trail, so we won't pass by on our walk today. It was home to BiCon in 2006. You can find out more in the trail guide.
Stop 10
From the Gallery of Modern Art, we'll walk up Buchanan Street, before turning left on to Bath Street, for PHACE West.
Stops 11, 12, and 13
Up next: Glasgow Film Theatre, Millie's flat (from Jackie Kay's debut novel, Trumpet), and the Glasgow School of Art for the Two Roberts.
Stops 14 and 15
Nearly there! One of the Glasgow LGBT Centres and the Mitchell Library are our antepenultimate and penultimate stops.
Stop 16
And we bring the trail to a close with the Scottish Homosexual Rights Group, formerly located on Queen's Crescent.
We thank the Glasgow Women's Library LGBTQ+ History Detectives for putting together the Stride with Pride heritage trail. This interactive guide was made by Seb Jensen.
